Shapingecotourism.eu – SHAPE launches the eService

The SHAPE extended website – shapingecotourism.eu – provides an open-access platform for networking and joint development in ecotourism. In this platform, we share our ideas, ongoing development efforts with ecotourism initiatives, and results of transnational collaboration. You are welcome to Join in the Shape and share your ideas and expertise, and collaborate with our transnational network of Sustainable Heritage Areas (SHAs) in Northern Europe and Canada.

Shapingecotourism has been developed as part of the transnational SHAPE project in 2017-2020. Our aim is to establish an open-access service where we and our stakeholders, associated partners and other end-users, will collaborate and share the result of the joint development.

Our project and the eService aim to support the NPA Programme Vision, i.e.:

“ …to help to generate vibrant, competitive and sustainable communities, by harnessing innovation, expanding the capacity for entrepreneurship and seizing the unique growth initiatives and opportunities of the Northern and Arctic regions in a resource efficient way”.

The SHAPE network collaborates through learning journeys, conferences and meetings and by establishing thematic networks. The results are incorporated into dynamic database of knowledge in such a way that it will continue to develop even after the project period.

Additional features for registered users

For registered users, shapingecotourism.eu provides two additional features:

  • The Pool of Competences, where users can connect with other users from Northern SHAs, establish direct social media linkages, describe their expertise, and promote their products and services.
  • The Forum, where users can ideally share their expertise and ideas in ecotourism, and work with ongoing ecotourism initiatives, learning journeys, events and project developments, for instance.

We welcome you to the transnational development of the partnerships, natural and cultural assets, Ecotourism Initiatives, and models of co-governance in this inspiring context of Northern Sustainable Heritage Areas.
