S8 Geographical Considerations

Governance Decision-Making Tool

Stakeholder Engagement

What considerations are there with the geography of the region for involving the key stakeholder groups?

The question relates to whether the governance structure represents an even geographical spread across the region. Does the size of the area present barriers to certain organisations or individuals when it comes to participation in its governance structure? In such cases, a potential solution is to alternate the venues of board or steering group meetings.

In an example from Finland forming part of the SHAPE project, board/steering group meetings are held in three different towns in different parts of a Biosphere Reserve.
